Concessionary Bus Pass

Residents who are aged 60 or over or who have a disability are eligible for concessionary travel. This is valid on most bus services within Cheshire. It can also be used to travel on bus services in Runcorn & Widnes, or Halton and provides free travel Monday to Friday after 0930 and all day Sat, Sunday and Bank Holidays (before 0930 Monday to Friday you pay half fare).

From April 2008 concessionary travel is available across the whole of England.

If you have a blue Cheshire Concessionary Bus Pass you need to re-apply for the new national card. For more information phone the Councilís contact centre or visit your local One Stop Shop.

Halton Community Transport

Halton Community Transport (HCT) runs a range of accessible services for people who cannot access public transport.

These include:

  • Dial-A-Ride - a wheelchair accessible mini bus for travel within Halton Monday to Saturday
  • Community Car Scheme - available 7 days a week, manned by volunteers using the own cars
  • Womenís Safe Transport - Operates Monday to Saturday inclusive, providing a daily minibus service.

Available to women within the boundaries of Halton. Pick-ups are from door to door. Hours of operation: 5.30pm to 11.30pm. Fares are comparable to local bus service prices, with concessionary fares available to passengers with the appropriate pass. The service may booked the day before the journey by telephoning 0151 257 2411 (Monday- Friday 11.00am to 4.45pm)

  • Services for people with disabilities to access employment, post 16 education and the Independent Living Centre
  • Community Minibus and Coach service available to local community groups

From April 2008 a range of Door 2 Door services will be available by by phoning the Council’s Contact Centre
